Shikidim

I decided to put a Belly Dance troupe together a few years ago when I was asked to dance at an event in Birmingham. The troupe is made up of my most talented students. The core members are Mary Lowther, Isobel Peck, Maxine Riley, Alexis Southall, Jodie Cole and me, Karen Price. We have danced at some very prestigious events such as the National Indoor Athletics Championships, Bridgnorth Music Festival, Birmingham Arts Festival. We are also regular performers at Chelmarsh Summer Fete, Wombourne Carnival and the Womens Institute and have danced at many private parties and charity events.

Shikidim have a very varied programme of dances, incorporating veils, zills and sticks. We dance Tribal style, Egyptian Cabaret, Saiidi Stick Dance and Turkish Gypsy dance and Bellywood (a fusion style) This Wolverhampton based Belly Dance troupe is available to hire for wedding entertainment, festivals, private parties, and charity events in the Wolverhampton area. In case you are wondering about the name, Shikidim is the name of one of my favourite songs by the Turkish pop star Tarkan and it means shake which seems appropriate as we do a lot of shaking!
